Netflix has officially confirmed the coming of "Squid Game" Season 2. The streaming giant drops the first look at the new season with an eye-catching poster and some teasers that fans have to wait to see.

Once again, fans will see Lee Jung Jae as Seong Gi Hun in "Squid Game" Season 2. After the open-ending finale, what will he be up to this time?

The new season's official poster, via AllKpop, shows the eye of what seems to be a doll. Its iris features the number "2," alluding to show's second season.

It also features the symbolic shapes of the show's game, circle, triangle and square. The announcement on Twitter implied the show had received the go signal with its caption, "Red light...Greenlight!"

Hwang Dong Hyuk, the series' director, writer and executive producer, revealed the return of Seong Gi Hun and The Front Man (Lee Byung Hun). The man in the suit with "ddakji," played by Gong Yoo," might also be seen.

"Squid Game" Season 2 will also introduce Cheol Su, the boyfriend of the killer doll, Young Hee, who was introduced in the first season's premiere episode. Is the eye from the new season's poster belongs to him?

In Hwang Dong Hyuk's message, per Soompi, he revealed a "whole new round is coming." As it took him 12 years to bring the first season to life last year, it became a massive hit-the most popular Netflix series-in just 12 days.

He then gave a huge shout-out to fans for this feat. He then thanked everyone for supporting and watching the show.

Back in October, Netflix told CNN that "Squid Game" was the "biggest-ever series at launch" for the company. It's the first-ever Korean series to become the No. 1 show in the U.S., with 1.65 billion hours of viewing after just 28 days following its release.

With this success, Hwang Dong Hyuk confirmed he would be making "Squid Game" Season 2. He even revealed that with the demand, love and attention the second season received, he felt he had no choice but to make another season.

So after he had hinted at the making of the second season after the show's breakthrough, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos officially confirmed the coming of more episodes in January, Variety reported. However, Hwang Dong Hyuk hinted that "Squid Game" Season 2 might still be ways off and new episodes might not be out until the end of 2023 or early 2024.
