Netflix Korea confirmed the coming of "Sweet Home" Season 2 and Season 3. The streaming giant renewed the apocalyptic K-drama for two new seasons, so what can fans expect in the show's second outing?
Fans will again see Hyun Soo (Song Kang) in "Sweet Home" Season 2 as he and his neighbors fight the murderous monsters outside their building. Will they still manage to survive this time?
AllKpop noted the first season's main stars would return for the second season to continue where they left off. Of course, Song Kang would be back as the lonely high schooler Hyun Soo.
Lee Jin Wook will also reprise his role as the mysterious man, Sang Wook, along with the Lee Si Young as the firefighter Yi Kyung. Go Min Si will also return as Eun Yoo and Park Gyu Young as Ji Soo.
In addition, there will also be new faces joining the original cast members. Veteran star Yoo Oh Sung will be part of the series as a special force captain, while Oh Jung Se will play the role of a lab scientist.
Kim Moo Yeol and Jinyoung will also be seen in "Sweet Home" Season 2 as special force members Kim Young Hoo and Park Chan Young, respectively.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the upcoming second and third seasons would be produced back-to-back this year. Season one director Lee Eung Bok would also return to helm the series.
The company revealed that the two new seasons would take on a "larger scale with an expanded storyline and cast." The show foreshadowed the global success of "Squid Game" after its release on Netflix in 2020.
It was the first K-drama to be part of the company's Top 10 list in the U.S., taking the third spot. It later ranked number one in eight global regions and was within the Top 10 in 42 areas.
"Sweet Home" was based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young Chan. It tells the story of a virus outbreak, turning the people with greed and malice in their hearts into monstrous creatures.
This left a troubled teen and his neighbors in one building to fight to survive. However, Lee revealed "Sweet Home" Season 2 would include a new setting.
He also swore to hone the technical details in the second season, which they couldn't do in the first. With the first season's success, the upcoming seasons are expected to have a larger budget and high production values.
There are no words yet when "Sweet Home" Season 2 will be out.
