Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed the date of King Charles III's coronation. But instead of the assumption that it will take place in June, it will now happen on May 6, the same day as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son Archie's birthday.

While some see this move as an attack on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, others believe it's King Charles' move to hold out an olive branch. So, why does the palace change the coronation date?

Before the announcement, it was widely predicted that the ceremony would be held on June 2, the date of the late Queen Elizabeth II's nomination in 1953. However, The Mirror claimed that the monarch had no plans to overshadow his mother's historic event.

Camilla, Queen Consort, will be crowned alongside her husband in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony will be a "deeply religious affair;" "rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry" and set to "reflect the monarch's role today and look towards the future."

It will include the same elements as the traditional service, following the same structure that has been going on for over a thousand years. At the same time, it will recognize the "spirit of our times."

King Charles will be anointed with holy oil and receive the orb, coronation ring, and scepter. He will be crowned with St Edward's Crown and get a blessing during the ceremony.

Camilla, on the other hand, will also be anointed by holy oil and receive her crown, just like how the late Queen Mother was crowned back in 1937.

The palace revealed it chose May 6 in consultation with the Government, the Church of England, and the Royal Household. No reason was revealed on why it was picked.

It also remains to be seen who the special guests on that day will be. It's the same day as Archie's birthday, so it's not yet confirmed if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will fly to the U.K. to witness the historic event.

As Archie's fourth birthday and King Charles' coronation happen on the same day, the Sussexes' supporters can't help but react. Twitter user Jennifer Watts said royalists freaked out when the royal couple dropped their photos a couple of days after the royal family released their own or did something when a birthday picture of the Cambridge kid was out, overshadowing them. However, she found it absurd that the crowing would happen on the Sussex kid's birthdate.

Another Twitter user Amaya Rue, however, saw it as an "olive branch" to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. She explained that it symbolizes that they're still family even if they're an institution, hoping it's a symbol of peace from "father to son and King to Prince."
