King Charles III allegedly still hopes to reconcile with his son, Prince Harry, and daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, despite the controversies and allegations their new Netflix docuseries, "Harry & Meghan," brings. There are also claims that the monarch has no plans to remove their titles amid the many calls for it.
A royal expert claims King Charles still hopes and believes reconciliation is not far from happening before his coronation occurs. However, the royal enthusiast "characterized" this approach as "somewhat naïve."
In his writeup on Daily Mail, Dan Wooton revealed that a royal source claimed that His Majesty told his senior team that he was sad instead of being angry over the Sussexes' tirades against the monarchy. Hence, he hoped that the issues within the royal family would be resolved in time.
However, Express noted that the king's hopes seem to underestimate the couple's alleged mission to "tear down" the monarchy's institution. Hence, a lot of the courtiers believed the longest-serving heir apparent needed to let the Palace take a "more aggressive response" over the next month with the release of "Harry & Meghan" and the Duke of Sussex's upcoming memoir, "Spare."
They also allegedly wanted to act on the damage done, especially knowing that it could be hard to counteract because it expanded internationally.
However, despite the unfortunate turn of events, royal insiders said King Charles is "very unlikely to strip" Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's their titles. For starters, the late Queen Elizabeth II gifted the two their titles on their wedding day on May 19, 2018.
Their critics stressed their titles should be removed after making several claims against the royal family in the first three episodes of their docuseries. One palace source told Page Six that stripping off their titles is something King Charles wanted to do and wouldn't even consider, finding it "too petty and punitive."
The insider continued that it would also make Prince Harry and Meghan Markle believe it would be a "retaliatory action," further proving that they were never wanted in the royal family.
Also, even if their titles were removed, the former "Suits" star would have a different honorific, Princess Henry, to follow the royal protocol. Only princesses born into the royal family can use their given names, so given that she's married to the prince, she will have a princess title, taking her husband's name.
A royal watcher even stressed that given Prince Harry and Meghan Markle titled their Netflix show "Harry & Meghan," it might indicate that they voluntarily stopped using their titles.
