Jeremy Renner made his first social media post after the tragic snowplowing accident on New Year's Day. On Tuesday, January 3, the "Bourne Legacy" actor shared a selfie of himself while lying on his hospital bed.

Renner updated fans on his condition after sustaining major injuries and undergoing surgery Monday, January 2. Though he still doesn't look fine, with bruises and wounds covering the left side of his face, he remains high-spirited.

In the caption, the 51-year-old thanked everyone for their kind words and admitted he was "too messed up to type." Despite that, he still sent love to all.

As expected, his comment section was filled with encouragement and support from his fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, celebrity friends, and fans.

Chris Pratt said he would continue to send prayers his pal's way, while Chris Hemsworth wished him a speedy recovery and sent him love. Chris Evans called Renner "tough nails" and also sent love his way.

Meanwhile, the "Hawkeye" star's publicist, Samantha Mast, released an official statement to provide more details about the accident via CNN. Before the accident occurred, he was near his Nevada home to clear driveways so that his family members could make their way out after celebrating the holidays together.

He was plowing the snow when the accident happened and was with his family. Mast added that Renner has already woken up and is making progress, talking, and remaining in good spirits.

However, he's still in ICU in critical but stable condition. Renner, too, feels overwhelmed by the love and support he receives, and his family continuously asks for prayers while he recovers with his close loved ones.

TMZ reported that one of Renner's neighbors claimed he had lost much blood after the snowplow accidentally ran over one of his legs. Fortunately, one of his neighbors was a doctor and managed to place a tourniquet on his leg until the paramedics arrived and airlifted him to the hospital.

Though it wasn't snowing then, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said the highway was closed due to "severe winter weather," and the snow wasn't removed yet. Also, about 13 to 20 cars were abandoned on the highway, making maneuvering difficult.

Balaam confirmed Renner was run over by his snowcat after the vehicle started rolling away when he left the driver's seat. He sustained severe injuries when he tried to get back into it. He also cleared that Renner wasn't intoxicated when the accident occurred and called it a "tragic" event.
