June 4 marked the second birthday of Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Unusually, none of the British royal family members expressed their birthday wishes publicly for the young princess.
Typically, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and Prince William and Kate Middleton would extend their birthday salutations via their individual Twitter accounts. They followed this tradition on the occasion of Lilibet's first birthday last year.
Lilibet's first birthday coincided with the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a period of significant activities. Nevertheless, the Royals spared a moment to wish the young princess.
Last year's wishes from the Prince and Princess of Wales read, "Sending our warmest wishes to Lilibet on her first birthday!" This message was accompanied by a festive balloon emoji.
Moreover, King Charles II and his consort greeted Lilibet on her first birthday via their Twitter handle, Clarence House. Their post read, "Celebrating Lilibet's first birthday with joy!" They attached a birthday cake emoji for added effect.
However, this year witnessed a conspicuous absence of birthday wishes from either royal duo or any other family members. The most recent tweet from Prince William and Kate Middleton revolves around their congratulations to Manchester City on their FA Cup Final victory against Manchester United.
Additionally, the latest Twitter post from The Royal Family, dating back to June 2, showcases a roundup of "The Royal Week," encompassing activities from May 27 to June 2. It also shared snapshots from the recent visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales to Jordan for Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein's nuptials.
The last tweet from Clarence House dates back to Sept. 9, 2022, centering on Queen Elizabeth II's passing. No greetings were extended to Princess Lilibet on her second birthday from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This year, the royal family also overlooked Prince Archie's fourth birthday on May 6, coinciding with King Charles III's coronation. Similarly, no wishes were extended to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their fifth wedding anniversary on May 19. It appears that the royals have ceased to publicly acknowledge or celebrate the personal milestones of the Sussex family in California.
Nonetheless, the Sussexes have continued to celebrate their family's significant moments. Following King Charles III's coronation, Prince Harry promptly returned home to celebrate Archie's birthday. He was seen departing Westminster Abbey, boarding a waiting black SUV.
For Lilibet's second birthday, reports suggest King Charles III prepared a custom-made playhouse as a gift. A source reportedly stated to Cosmopolitan magazine that Meghan Markle received a plethora of presents for Lilibet's celebration.
Additionally, it's suggested that Prince Harry aims to incorporate more British children's literature into Lilibet's collection, including beloved classics like "Paddington Bear" and the "Frog and Toad" series.
Princess Lilibet Diana's first birthday was celebrated in the UK, with a picnic at their former residence, Frogmore Cottage. The gathering included a few close friends and family, including Mike and Zara Tindall's children and Peter Philip's daughters. Their dear friend Misan Harriman and his family also attended. Harriman's candid snap of the young princess was shared publicly, serving as Lilibet's first official portrait since her birth.
