YG Entertainment is still in discussions regarding the re-contracting of BLACKPINK. The names of BIGBANG members and Kang Dong Won, whose contracts have expired, have been completely removed from YG Entertainment's lineup.
On November 14, YG Entertainment released its quarterly report, stating, "As of the date of this report, we are a global entertainment company generating sales worldwide, including in Korea. We operate in the music album and source industry, performance business, and management (service) business. In addition, we are engaged in various content businesses and related product sales utilizing our affiliated artists through subsidiary companies."
The lineup of affiliated artists prominently features the soon-to-debut BABYMONSTER at the forefront. Other artists listed include AKMU, WINNER, Sechskies, Jinusean, TREASURE, Kal So Won, Kyung Soo Jin, Kim Hee Ae, Yoo Seung Ho, Yoo In Na, Lee Sung Kyung, Lee Soo Hyuk, Jang Ki Yong, Jung Hye Young, Ju Woo Jae, Jin Kyung, Cha Seung Won, Choi Ji Woo, Han Seung Yeon, Park So Yi, Son Na Eun, Park Yu Na, and Seo Jung Yeon.
Especially regarding BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment explained, "As of the public disclosure date, we are currently negotiating a re-contract with the artists, and the final result will be announced later through a [Key Management Matters Related to Investment Decisions] disclosure."
Debuted in 2016, BLACKPINK is currently discussing a re-contract with YG Entertainment. Speculations regarding the future of BLACKPINK members, including recent reports of Jennie and Jisoo establishing their own one-person agencies, have drawn global attention.
BLACKPINK, who recently concluded their 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] FINALE IN SEOUL' concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, expressed their sentiments, "The tour may be ending, but BLINK (fandom name) and BLACKPINK will forever be one. We will continue to be a great BLACKPINK in the future." This hint has left fans hopeful that the four members will remain with YG Entertainment.
On the other hand, the names of BIGBANG and Kang Dong Won, whose contracts with YG Entertainment have expired, are absent. Kang Dong Won, who was in a Free Agent (FA) state since his contract expired last December, launched his own agency, AA Group.
Members of BIGBANG, who were representative artists of YG Entertainment, are now individually active but collectively as a group. Taeyang has moved to THEBLACKLABEL, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment, Daesung to R&D Company, and G-Dragon has concluded his exclusive contract with YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment promises broader growth, stating, "Since its foundation, our company has produced the best artists leading the popular music industry and is nurturing artists capable of leading the global market through our unique and systematic training and world-class in-house producing system."
