The blaze, which began in the workers' bathhouse, prompted a swift and substantial emergency response, but the toll was heavy, with many succumbing to injuries related to harmful gas inhalation.
The Lianjian Building, a multifunctional structure integral to the mine's operations, was engulfed in flames early in the day, a time when activities such as shift changes or meetings might typically occur. While the precise cause of the fire is still under investigation, the repercussions were immediate and severe. In response to the tragedy, officials from the Yongju Coal Industry, a subsidiary of the Shanxi Dongtai Energy Group, have been detained, and a thorough investigation led by the Shanxi Provincial Government is underway.
