Jennifer Lopez has made the difficult decision to cancel her highly anticipated 2024 North American tour, "This Is Me... Live," in order to spend time with her children, family, and close friends, according to representatives from Live Nation. The tour, which was set to be her first in five years and was scheduled to run from June 26 in Orlando, Florida, to August 31 in Houston, Texas, was in support of her first solo album in a decade, "This Is Me.... Now," and its companion film.

In a heartfelt statement shared on her OntheJLo website and newsletter, Lopez expressed her deep regret for disappointing her fans, writing, "I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary." She went on to promise that she would make it up to her fans and that they would all be together again, adding, "I love you all so much. Until next time..."

Live Nation confirmed that attendees who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster would be automatically refunded, while those who bought tickets through third-party resale sites would need to reach out to the point of purchase for more details.

The cancellation of the tour comes amidst reports of marital issues between Lopez and her husband, Ben Affleck. Though the couple was recently pictured together, sources have told PEOPLE that they have been living separately in Los Angeles while experiencing a strain in their marriage. Lopez has been busy preparing for the now-canceled tour and promoting her Netflix film "Atlas," which has already reached No. 1 in 55 countries since its release on May 24, while Affleck has been filming for "The Accountant 2."

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Lopez spoke about the similarities and differences between herself and her character in "Atlas," saying, "We are so different because she's like ... doesn't wear any of her emotions. She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes. But at the same time we are both very strong and sure of what they feel. At times. She was very sure. She was like, 'This is what's happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.' And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit."

The decision to cancel the tour and prioritize time with her loved ones comes at a challenging time for Lopez, both professionally and personally. The singer and actress had been eagerly anticipating the release of "This Is Me... Now," which she described to the Associated Press as a "miracle" and "a second chance." The album, released earlier this year, marked 20 years since her hit album "This Is Me... Then," and Lopez had expressed her desire to capture this moment in time the way that album captured that moment in time.

Despite the disappointment felt by fans and the singer herself, Lopez's commitment to her family and personal well-being takes precedence. The cancellation of the tour and the reported marital strain serve as reminders of the challenges that come with balancing a successful career and a fulfilling personal life, even for a star of Lopez's caliber.
