It is no longer necessary for Kanye West to be concerned about the ongoing legal struggle with his former design assistant, a new report claimed. It was disclosed in the court documents that Kanye reached a settlement with Taliah Leslie about the complaint that she had filed against him.
According to RadarOnline, the documents read, “Counsel represent the parties have reached a settlement agreement.” Although it was said they had reached a settlement last year, Kanye and Taliah returned to court with the latest documents showing they entered into an agreement “on or about March 25, 2024.”
"As part of the settlement agreement, the parties agreed that Plaintiff Leslie would file a second amended complaint to add Shelby Grotowski as an additional plaintiff and add putative class action allegations for purposes of settlement," Taliah’s legal team informed the court.
The dismissal hearing for Kanye and his former employee is slated to take place on August 13 next year. The rapper will be able to put an end to at least one court dispute once the judge has concluded his proceedings.
According to Kanye’s ex-design associate, he did not give her any money for the things that belonged to her after she joined Yeezy. Taliah claimed she was swindled of benefits, overtime pay, travel and mobile bills repayments along with others.
She accused Kanye of misclassifying Yeezy employees as independent contractors, reportedly denying them salaries and benefits, and failing to comply with the California Labor Code.
Taliah also asserted that Kanye did not compensate her for work that she performed off the clock on project sites, nor did she reimburse her for work-related travel that was required between locations such as Cody, Wyoming and Paris, France, as well as for the use of her telephone and internet, as well as for expenses that were associated with the mandatory travel.
The former employee of Kanye claimed he did not compensate her for all the overtime she worked for. Taliah also claimed that the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian did not provide employees with off-duty meal breaks, according to The Grio (via Yahoo).
Meanwhile, Kanye reportedly removed his former legal eagle London Meservy from all of his cases. It was on May 16 that Meservy received the documents of dismissal via email; yet, he was fired from his position as the controversial superstar's attorney a few days later.
This month, the 24-time Grammy winner submitted a notice of substitution of attorney, alerting the court that he was removing Meservy from at least three cases in which the latter was acting as Kanye’s spokesperson.
Just a few days before to the announcement, the “Gold Digger” rapper had suffered the loss of his longstanding Chief of Staff at Yeezy, Milo Yiannopoulos, who was a political commentator on the far right.
Following the revelation that he did not agree with Kanye’s plan to enter the adult film industry with "Yeezy Porn," the self-proclaimed "world's most fabulous supervillain" submitted his notice of resignation.
Despite the fact that Kanye has resolved this lawsuit, he is still engaged in a legal battle with another former employee that is worth one million dollars. The former employee claimed that the celebrity forced him to sleep outside of his unfinished Malibu mansion in "makeshift conditions" while he was working as security.
