In the wake of a poor choice of words, President Joe Biden found himself in a difficult situation. A large number of Republican politicians have used to social media in order to explain that the horrifying murder attempt on Donald Trump was caused by the remarks made by the President of the United States during a phone call to Democratic contributors the previous week, a new report claimed.
“I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate. It’s time to put Trump in a bullseye,” Biden said, as per the recorded call, BBC reported.
In spite of the fact that President Biden promptly condemned the incident, some Republican politicians have pointed the finger of guilt onto the president. "Joe Biden sent the orders,” Georgia Rep. Mike Collins posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Every American should be outraged at Joe Biden for inciting violence against Donald J. Trump,” Texas Rep. Keith Self tweeted.
"Just days ago, Biden said 'it's time to put Trump in a bullseye'. Today, there was an assassination attempt against President Trump,” Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn penned.
"The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump's attempted assassination,” Ohio’s Sen. J.D. Vance, who is not the official vice-presidential running mate of Donald Trump, said. "Clearly, we’ve seen far left lunatics act on violent rhetoric in the past. This incendiary rhetoric must stop,” Republican Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, who was shot during a baseball practice in 2017, stated on X.
In light of the assassination attempt and the fact that both Republicans and Democrats have accused each other of inciting further violence, it has already been reported that security measures are being increased around both nominees.
The Secret Service team that knocked out the sniper after he was able to unleash three rounds from a neighboring rooftop and graze Trump's ear with a bullet has been called into question by lawmakers. They are concerned about the fact that the unit was not adequately equipped.
In the immediate aftermath of the terrible episode that came dangerously close to taking Trump's life, measures were being taken to prevent any violence from breaking out at the Republican National Convention, which was held in Wisconsin this week.
Up until the completion of safety evaluations, the Trump campaign has directed its staff to stay away from offices located in the states of Washington and Florida.
In addition, the Secret Service strengthened the protection details of Vice President Kamala Harris, Vice President Joe Biden, and President Donald Trump.
Vance will also be provided with the "appropriate level of security," according to statements made by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, to the press on Monday.
“Adjustments have been made to the former president’s detail, to the current president’s detail, as well as to the vice president’s detail,” Mayorkas furthered. He declined to provide any specific information as to what those adjustments were.
