In light of the fact that the future King "not only expects loyalty from him but also commands respect," a royal author has asserted that Prince William will not let down the "drawbridge" for any reconciliation talks with Prince Harry any time soon.
The Duke of Sussex resigned from his position as a senior working royal and relocated to the United States in 2020, which resulted in the release of a number of shocking allegations concerning the Firm and the Prince of Wales himself. Since then, Prince William and Prince Harry have been alienated from one another, Express UK reported.
Because their relationship is getting "frostier" every day, it is generally accepted that Prince Harry and Prince William are not on "speaking terms" with one another. Since the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022, they have not had the opportunity to meet in person.
Christopher Andersen, a royal expert, has stated that Prince William is not any closer to conducting peace talks with his younger brother any time soon.
"I have been saying this for months now – William pulled up the drawbridge and is not about to let it down for Harry anytime soon. William not only expects loyalty from his brother on a very personal level, but he commands respect as the heir to the throne,” he told Fox News.
"That’s just the kind of person the Prince of Wales is. He has always been brought up to believe, as his father did before him, that if the system is to work at all, he comes first after the king – simple as that,” Christopher went on.
Particularly after this year, which has been difficult for the royal family as a result of King Charles and Princess Kate's cancer diagnoses, the author asserted that it is "easier" for the heir to the throne to sever relations with Prince Harry than it is for him to allow himself to be impacted by their continuous conflict.
"It’s just been so much easier for William, facing the pressure of having to cope with his wife’s, as well as his father’s cancer diagnoses, to slam the door on Harry,” Christopher stated.
Queen Elizabeth was able to do it, and the King has shown no interest in making amends with Harry either. If anything, it looks as if the cancer diagnoses have made it easier for William to shut his brother out. It’s an awful lot to handle. You really can’t blame him… But the truth is that illness has not brought the brothers together. Oddly, it has driven them further apart,” he added.
“From William’s perspective, at this moment, where’s the upside to trying to make peace with Harry? It would take a lot of negotiating and compromise to even lay down the hatchet, much less bury it. Both sides would have to find a way to take responsibility and apologize. Ain’t happening anytime soon,” Christopher concluded.
