Andrew Garfield is “haunted by guilt and regret” over the 2015 end of his four-year relationship with Emma Stone, especially after his recent romance with Kate Thomas.

"He's convinced he let the love of his life slip through his fingers," a source who spoke to Star said. "But Emma is married now to Dave McCary and has a daughter, so Andrew is stuck with his memories."

On the other hand, both parties have previously expressed their unwavering affection for one another, Star Magazine reported.

In 2015, Emma, then 35, referred to her former partner as "someone I still love very much." In 2017, Emma, who was 41, gushed about her ex-partner: "There's so much love between us." Hence the problem: the source said, "Friends say Andrew will never find the right girl if he keeps moping about the past!"

The relationship that Emma and Andrew shared was the kind of thing that could only be conceived in Hollywood. The actress from “La La Land” and the actor from “Tick Tick Boom!” started working together for the first time when they were cast in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” playing the roles of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, respectively. As with their on-screen personas, the two actors fell in love, and they were not the first Spider-Man actors to experience this experience.

The couple dated for four years, during which time they worked together on another Spider-Man film and took their relationship to exotic locations all over the world, as per Us Weekly. Emma is now married with a child, while Andrew was most recently linked to model Alyssa Miller; nonetheless, even though they have split up and moved on, they continue to be friends and are not shy about sharing their feelings for each other.

The exact moment when Emma and Andrew switched from being a couple on screen in “The Amazing Spider-Man” to being a couple in real life is unknown; however, one thing is sure: sparks flew between them throughout the making of their first movie together, which took place between December 2010 and March 2011.

On a date to the movies, the alleged pair showed off some public displays of affection (PDA), even though they had not yet acknowledged their relationship. Afterward, Emma and Andrew went to a movie theater in Los Angeles to watch a “Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey screening."

After that, they went to Starbucks to get some coffee, where they waited in line together while holding hands. "They were really cute," an onlooker told PEOPLE Magazine.
