Katie Holmes recently shared a tale that will make everyone who has ever made an embarrassing work mistake feel like they are noticed. This is evidence that celebrities are, in fact, just like the rest of us daily.

According to the DailyMail, the actress revealed that one performance of the classic play was memorable for all the worst reasons when she forgot one of her lines onstage during an interview that took place on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, November 27. The interview was about the actress's current stint on Broadway, where she is starring as Mrs. Webb in the revival of "Our Town."

"I was in the middle of a scene and I just...I said the whole line except the last word and I couldn't, I couldn't remember it," she shared, admitting that she was unsuccessful no matter how hard she tried to cover up the mistake. "I made something up, but it didn't make sense and then I got so red...and I got flustered, so I just said my lines so fast after that and got off stage."

After the uncomfortable moment, Holmes stated that she received some much-needed emotional support from Jim Parsons, one of her co-stars in the show and a participant in the production.

"Jim gave me a hug after," Holmes explained, per Yahoo!. "He was like, 'I've never seen anyone say their lines so fast and remove themselves!'"

Holmes made it quite evident that no one else in the cast, including Ephraim Sykes, Zoey Deutch, and Richard Thomas, was in any way distressed by the blunder. However, she stated that this did not prevent her from worrying about it, pointing out, "This is Broadway!"

The actress told Jimmy Fallon that she generally goes over all of her lines three times at home before every performance—well, almost every performance. The situation reinforced this superstition, which caused her to feel embarrassed and confirmed a superstition that she had.

The night she froze up and forgot a stage line was the "one time" that Holmes did not perform her regular three run-throughs of the lines at home before a concert. Additionally, Holmes stated that this was the only time she did not do this.

On the positive side, the former cast member of "Dawson's Creek" had nothing but great things to say about another of her Broadway rituals (her pre-show Starbucks run), in which she seemed to get the small-town treatment in New York City.

"They are so lovely," she remarked on the personnel at the Eighth Avenue shop she visited before going to the Barrymore Theatre, where it is being performed. "Every time I go in, they know me and I know them, and they wish me a great show."

The forthright disclosure elicited responses from followers on social media, who valued Holmes' transparency. “Katie Holmes forgetting her line proves celebrities are just like us. We all have those moments!” one netizen said. “Hats off to her for handling it like a pro. Live theater is no joke!” another X user responded.

“I love that she bonds with her Starbucks baristas before each show. So relatable!” a third source stated. “We’ve all blanked at work before. Glad Katie shared her story—it makes her even more lovable," a fan shared.

“Jim Parsons is such a gem for supporting her afterward. Love this Broadway cast!” a fifth netizen furthered. “Her superstitions are adorable. Guess she’ll never skip her line run-throughs again!” another X user noted.
