OnePlus has officially announced the launch of its new flagship smartphone series, the OnePlus 13, scheduled for January 7, 2025. The highly anticipated unveiling will coincide with the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where the company is expected to showcase groundbreaking features tailored for both general users and photography enthusiasts.
The OnePlus 13 will arrive in three striking colorways: Black Eclipse, Arctic Dawn, and Midnight Ocean. Notably, the Midnight Ocean variant will debut a micro-fiber vegan leather back, a first for OnePlus, offering a premium look and enhanced durability. The Arctic Dawn edition will feature a new industry-first glass coating, which the company claims delivers a sleek, tactile finish.
Durability is a standout feature in the OnePlus 13 lineup. All models will boast IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. While IP68 certification protects devices from dust and immersion in water, the IP69 rating adds an extra layer of durability by withstanding high-pressure water jets and steam cleaning-a feature rarely seen in mainstream smartphones. If confirmed, the OnePlus 13 could become the first major smartphone to achieve IP69 certification.
The OnePlus 13 will also showcase a cutting-edge display. The company promises a 2K resolution with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an unprecedented maximum brightness of 4,500 nits. This advancement is expected to redefine clarity and color vibrancy, offering a seamless viewing experience even in bright outdoor conditions.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 13 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the latest mobile processor designed to deliver exceptional performance. Paired with OxygenOS 15, the company's latest operating system, the device will offer significant AI integration across its functionality. One of the standout features is Intelligent Search, an AI-driven tool that allows users to locate files using natural prompts instead of manually navigating through folders.
While the company has yet to provide full details about its camera technology, OnePlus has teased its collaboration with Hasselblad, continuing its partnership to deliver advanced imaging capabilities. The camera array on the OnePlus 13 is expected to build on the success of its predecessors, which earned praise for offering professional-grade photography tools in a smartphone form factor.
Alongside the smartphone, OnePlus will also launch the OnePlus Buds Pro 3, wireless earbuds that feature AI-powered live translation capabilities when paired with the OnePlus 13. These earbuds will be available in a Sapphire Blue colorway, although further specifications are yet to be revealed.
