A member of a conservative think group in the United States has issued a strong warning to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to Express, this entity is lobbying for the public release of the duke's immigration records in response to the couple's recent criticism of Meta's adjustments to fact-checking rules.
Earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex delivered a statement in which they condemned Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, for "allowing more abuse and normalizing hate speech."
Their criticism came after Meta decided to suspend the use of third-party fact-checking and to loosen its regulations for the moderation of content.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex asked Meta to reconsider these changes and urged businesses to put in place measures to ensure that internet environments are safe, saying, "We applaud leaders who refuse to kowtow to bullying."
Nile Gardiner, who is currently serving as the director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom and currently holds the position of Bernard and Barbara Lomas Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, has accused the Sussex couple of making a "huge mockery" out of the Royal Family with their "hugely inappropriate political rant." This accusation is made despite the fact that the couple is not employed by the Firm.
A conservative think tank with its headquarters in Washington, District of Columbia, known as the Heritage Foundation, has been advocating for the United States government to reveal Harry's visa application. Revelations in his memoir, "Spare," in which he admits to having used drugs for recreational purposes in the past, have prompted this movement.
On the other hand, in September, United States District Judge Carl Nichols issued a ruling that the visa application submitted by the duke should be kept confidential. He said that "the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke's immigration records."
In an interview with the Daily Beast, Gardiner shared his thoughts, saying, "For members of the Royal Family to engage in such overtly political matters is, quite frankly, highly inappropriate. It goes against royal protocol. Their use of these titles to further their personal and political agendas makes a mockery of the Royal Family's customary neutrality. Their statement wasn't a moderate call for dialogue or understanding; it was an outright political rant."
This circumstance highlights the persistent conflict between the Sussexes and the traditional expectations of the royal family. Additionally, this circumstance highlights the implications of their public statements on their position within the royal framework.
