Sean "Diddy" Combs was taken from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn to a local hospital late Thursday night for a medical evaluation, according to multiple reports.
The 55-year-old music mogul, who is currently being held without bail while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, was transported to Brooklyn Hospital Center around 10 p.m., a law enforcement source told the New York Post.
MRI Conducted for Reported Knee Injury
Multiple sources told Page Six that Combs underwent an MRI scan, a non-invasive imaging test that provides detailed visuals of organs, bones, muscles, and blood vessels.
A source told the outlet that Combs' knee had been bothering him, prompting medical staff to recommend the examination. Combs returned to his cell within a few hours and did not stay overnight at the hospital.
A separate source speculated that the trip may have been the result of a prison fight or emergency, but multiple reports stated that was not the case.
The Bureau of Prisons declined to comment, stating, "For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for anyone in our custody to include medical status or medical trips."
History of Knee Injuries and Past Surgeries
Combs has a well-documented history of knee problems. In 2020, he underwent his fourth surgery in two years, sharing on Instagram that he had previously required rotator cuff repairs, a knee replacement, and a quadriceps procedure.
"I'm clumsy. I trip. I fall. I fall in holes," Combs said at the time, later adding, "At the end of the day, this is God's work to slow me down."
Legal Troubles and Detention
Combs has been in custody since September 2024, after being arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
A 14-page federal indictment alleges that Combs "abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him" over a period spanning several decades. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His legal team has filed multiple appeals for bail, all of which have been denied. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
Attorney Defends Combs' Character
Following his arrest, Combs' attorney, Marc Agnifilo, issued a statement calling the prosecution "unjust" and stating, "Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community."
The statement continued, "He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal."
Agnifilo later told Us Weekly that Combs was "receiving treatment and therapy" while in custody, adding, "There's been drug use, there's been toxic relationships... but these are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide."
Conditions at MDC and Reports of Struggles in Prison
The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Combs is being held, has faced numerous allegations of poor conditions and inmate mistreatment in recent years.
Reports have surfaced indicating that his incarceration has been taking a toll on his health, though his legal team has not commented on his well-being beyond confirming that he is undergoing treatment.
Despite his recent hospitalization, Combs remains in detention as he awaits his high-profile trial, which is expected to draw significant public and media attention.
