Demi Lovato married Canadian singer-songwriter Jordan "Jutes" Lutes in California on Sunday, nearly two years after the pair met while collaborating on Lovato's 2022 album Holy Fvck. The ceremony, which was first reported by Vogue, featured a high-fashion nod to Hollywood history, a connection to her Disney past, and a bridal look with ties to another former teen star.
The 32-year-old artist wore a custom off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood gown, a classic silhouette that paid tribute to the late British designer's celebrated use of corsetry and draping. "When I was thinking about [what dress style I wanted] I often found myself coming back to Vivienne's designs - specifically how the silhouettes really compliment the curves in your body, and her use of corsets," Lovato told Vogue.
Styled by Jill Jacobs, Lovato completed the look with a tulle cathedral-length veil and Old Hollywood-inspired waves. The dress design was adapted with tweaks around the bust and waist, echoing ancient Greek sculpture and 18th-century elegance. For the reception, she changed into a strapless Westwood column dress adorned with broken pearls cascading from the neckline, channeling what the singer described as the "golden age of cinema."
Lutes, 34, wore a Saint Laurent suit for the occasion. The couple became romantically involved during the production of Holy Fvck, where Lutes co-wrote tracks such as "Happy Ending," "City of Angels," and "Substance." He previously signed with Capitol Records and is known for a musical style blending emo, pop-punk, and trap influences.
Lovato's wedding look drew comparisons to Miley Cyrus's 2018 wedding gown, also by Westwood. While Cyrus's version was a silk crepe adaptation, Lovato's gown featured thicker silk satin. The pop stars, who had a well-documented rivalry during their Disney Channel days, reconnected in 2020.
Prior to Lutes, Lovato was engaged to actor Max Ehrich in 2020. The engagement ended after two months. Lutes proposed in December 2023 with a pear-shaped engagement ring. Messages seeking comment from Lovato's representatives were not immediately returned.
