Marvell Technology shares surged oevr 32% Tuesday after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang publicly described the semiconductor company as the "next trillion-dollar company," delivering a powerful endorsement that sent investors rushing into one of the fastest-growing beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence infrastructure boom.

The remarks, delivered during an onstage discussion with Marvell CEO Matt Murphy at Computex in Taipei, helped add billions of dollars to Marvell's market value and reinforced Wall Street's growing conviction that the next phase of the AI race extends beyond processors and into the networking technologies that connect them.

Huang used the appearance to highlight what he sees as an increasingly overlooked part of modern AI systems: connectivity.

"When you take a computing problem, and you disaggregate it into a lot of parts, and you distribute it across the entire data center, what's necessary is connectivity," Huang said.

The statement resonated with investors because Marvell occupies a critical position in the AI supply chain. While Nvidia has become synonymous with AI chips, Marvell's networking and data-movement technologies help shuttle information between processors, storage systems and memory across massive cloud-computing facilities.

The rally came just days after Marvell reported stronger-than-expected fiscal first-quarter results, further strengthening the company's standing among investors betting on continued AI spending.

According to Reuters, Marvell generated $2.4 billion in quarterly revenue and projected additional growth driven largely by its data-center business. The results reinforced a trend that has transformed the company over the past several years as cloud providers dramatically expand infrastructure to support generative AI applications.

Several factors have positioned Marvell at the center of the industry's next growth cycle:

  • AI-related demand continues to drive expansion in data-center spending.
  • Cloud providers are investing heavily in networking infrastructure.
  • Larger AI models require faster communication between thousands of processors.
  • Advanced photonics technologies are creating new opportunities for data transmission.

The relationship between Nvidia and Marvell has also deepened as demand for AI infrastructure accelerates. Nvidia recently committed a $2 billion investment in Marvell, signaling confidence in the company's long-term role within the broader AI ecosystem.
