Xi Jinping has recently been spotted introducing the world to China's Belt and Road Initiative. Speaking as quoted by Khaleej Times, the Chinese president said that the Belt and Road Initiative did not belong to China alone, but it was designed to include everyone.
Speaking further, Xi Jinping also said that other countries are welcome to join the express economic policies of China. This should also help these other countries develop their own objectives in regard to their progress.
The Belt and Road Initiative should also act as a diplomatic tool, he said. It should help China to give credence to other countries, while China also builds their own. The Initiative was put in place to build economies and create investment relationships, which China is looking for.
These comments remain in line with China's economic policies, which sees it opening the country to more partners.
In contrast, the US political policy of recent times is to pay attention to its own economy, making it sort of 'close' its borders to trade partners. This includes China, who the US is taking to task with a 'trade war' of sorts by imposing lopsided tariffs. China will, of course, retaliate, according to Channel News Asia, but it appears that China will be fine.
The Trump administration, whether willingly or not, have changed the US global stance with its policies. China, on the other hand, has enacted policies that welcome other countries it hasn't traded within the close past. It's a reversal of sorts, and the Belt and Road Initiative is to thank partly for it.
As further proof of how effective the policy has been, UN-recognized trade banks like the AIIB, The Silk Road Fund, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have all signed agreements with Chinese firms.
Xi Jinping says that the Initiative will not work fully without cooperation. He invited countries to join and benefit from the policy. He also invited them to cooperate as partners, not as master and subordinate, in making the Silk Road policy work as well. The policy, according to the Chinese president, was meant to make countries level with each other, not to re-introduce existing lopsided deals.
