The Huawei Nova 3i is the latest mid-range smartphone offered in the market, a device carrying the newest chipset but sports almost the same aesthetics as the Huawei P20 Lite. However, there are differences externally with the former featuring a glass back and available in a variety of gradient hues.

Up front, the Huawei Nova 3i sports a larger display than the P20 Lite. It has a 6.3-inch full HD display (2340 x 1080p), a feature that could hit it well with some consumers. The larger screen allows users to make the most out of media and related productivity although it also accounts for a bigger mobile phone to carry.

Aside from the large display, the Huawei Nova 3i also comes with the company’s latest octa-core Kirin 710 2.2 GHz processor. It means that folks who were not exactly satisfied with the previous Kirin 659 SoC can expect better performance along, variable depending on the RAM and ROM choice, according to Gizmo China.

Potential buyers can choose between a 4 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM or 6 GB RAM 64 GB ROM option. If the internal storage is not enough, the device comes with provisions for additional space via the microSD card slot that can be expanded up to 256 GB.

Being a bigger device, the Huawei Nova 3i also comes with a larger non-removable 3,340 mAh Li-Ion battery. It includes a read dual 16 and 2 MP camera and a front-facing 24 and 2 MP camera. It is dual-SIM ready and comes with Android 8.1 Oreo, EMUI 8.2 out of the box.

To compare, below are the specs of the Huawei P20 Lite:

  • 5.84-inch full HD (2280 x 1080p) display
  • Octa-core Kirin 659 2.36 GHz chipset
  • Option of either a 4 GB RAM + 32 GB ROM, 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM or 4 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM (expandable via microSD slot)
  • Dual 16 and 2 MP rear camera
  • 16 or 24 MP front camera
  • Non-removable 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Dual-SIM
  • Android 8.1 Oreo, EMUI 8.0

The features that stand out between the two devices are the screen display and the processor, as singled out by Yuga Tech. While both are mid-range handsets, the Huawei Nova 3i understandably costs more due to the higher specs and the fact it is the latest from the Chinese company.

The Huawei Nova 3i retails for about $407 while the Huawei P20 Lite costs around $323. Assuming that size does not matter for potential buyers, there is no doubt that the Huawei Nova 3i looms as the apparent phone to get due to the power and since it is the latest device one can get in the market.
