AGM, a Chinese company known for producing rugged and reliable handsets, is reportedly all set to launch its latest flagship offering in the AGM X3. The device will have a global product launch on Aug. 29 in Shenzen, China, picking up from where the X1 and X2 models left off.

To date, there have already been several hints on the coming of the third-generation rugged handset. Among the features that have drawn attention is that the AGM X3 will come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with a Kryo 385 GPU and Adreno 630 GPU, Phone Radar suggests.

There is no actual visual of the device for now although some leaks hint at what the device may potentially look like. Up front, the AGM X3 may sport a 5.99-inch display boasting of an18:9 aspect ratio.

Internally, there will reportedly be two versions available. One is the 6 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM version while the other is the 8 GB RAM (LPDDR4X) and 128 GB of NAND flash. The device will also have a 24 MP + 12 MP dual rear camera and a front-facing 20 MP shooter.

Other notable features the device could offer include biometric security in the form of a fingerprint reader and facial recognition. Connectivity-wise, the phone is likely to come with an integrated X20 LTE modem, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and USB Type-C. Being a rugged handset, the device will come with an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The AGM X3 debuted at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year in Barcelona and recent benchmarking test results further enhanced its imminent coming. The device scored 2807 on a single core test and 9154 on multi-core.

Aside from that, the AGM X3 also fared well on AnTuTu, hitting 286,230 points. The impressive numbers together with its rugged mold should make it a sensible device for folks who need something handy outdoors, Android Headlines said.

As of this writing, there is no official word on how much the AGM X3 will cost. However, the KL Gadget Guy suggests that it could potentially retail less than the Samsung Galaxy S9. The Korean tech giant is, so far, the only company to have launched a rugged smartphone armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Samsung is expected to unveil a new one soon in the US with the Galaxy S9 Active running on Snapdragon 845.

Yet to be known is the battery powering the AGM X3 and whether it will have support for Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging. All these should be answered once the handset launches on the 29th.
