The Oppo F9 and F9 Pro came out as expected in India, new mid-range devices that come with minor differences. This includes seeing the Pro model having higher RAM and a battery that offers support for VOOC Flash Charge and differences in terms of available color schemes.

Other than those mentioned above, the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro carry practically similar specs. Both boast of a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display (2340x1080 pixels) and draw power from a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. The two models will come with 64 GB of ROM, a dual camera setup (16 MP + 2 MP), a front-facing 25 MP shooter, dual-SIM ready and come with ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Both will still have the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack and speakers, XDA Developers said.

The Oppo F9 is the base model and will come with 4 GB of RAM and a 3,500 mAh battery. Depending on use these specs should be enough for folks who are not too fond of using apps or playing games. The F9 should be sufficient for folks who merely need a device for daily use (i.e. making calls, text messages, checking e-mails or browsing). The handset will be available in black and starry purple hues.

On the other hand, people who want the best specs available can turn to the Oppo F9 Pro instead. This variant comes with 6 GB of RAM and a 3,500 mAh battery that supports VOOC Flash Charge. Aside from that, this version will also be available in starry purple like the base model. It will not be available in black but instead, offer sunrise red or twilight blue color options.

Having a device with added RAM should come in handy for folks who intend to do a lot of things with their phone. As far as the VOOC Flash Charge technology, this feature offers users 2 hours of talk time when charged for just 5 minutes. This should be good news for folks who cannot afford to see their phone die down while on the go.

Another feature worth noting is the tiny water drop notch that has a small cutout for the 25 MP selfie camera, GSM Arena said. The new notch is expected to gain attention from critics although it does improve on the old wide notch of previous models.

Both the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro have started selling in India with the former retailing for about $287 and the slightly higher end model costing a bit more at $343. Both are now available for pre-order and expected to officially go on sale by Aug. 31.
