Different places in Hong Kong are now experiencing a widespread increase of Dengue cases. In fact, the statistics are so serious, that government already called an action towards the situations. The cases continue to increase up to this moment. What could be the government's move about this? Is there any way that the community could help?
Dengue in Hong Kong Still Serious
The places in Hong Kong that are directly affected by the Dengue fever caused by mosquitoes were largely bigger this month compared to any other months combined. The case has never been more serious for the past 11 years. The government already made their move by urging unity in the community to help stop the spread of this disease.
Statistics from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department showed that the presence of mosquitoes increased to 15.7 percent last month, which is way bigger than the recorded 11.3 percent last June. In fact, 18 local cases were already reported since August 14. And just recently, two new cases regarding Dengue were reported to the higher authorities.
One case showed a 43-year old woman visiting Lion Rock Park. The mosquito bites were all around her and she was immediately admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Due to the fast response of the experts, the woman was now deemed stable.
Other than that, there is also one man, living on Cheung Chau, who was recently admitted to Queen Mary Hospital. The man told that he visited Shunde and Guangzhou in Guangdong. He is now stable and experts have their eyes on the man's welfare. The government, on the other hand, alerted the authorities, with regards to the situation in Guangdong and Macau.
The statistics showing reports about Dengue were being studied as this has been the highest monthly figure since 2009. Areas that are directly involved in the situation, includes Yau Tong, Wo Che, and Tseung Kwan O North.
Dengue Cases Increased, Government Took Action
With all that is happening in Hong Kong, the government officials would bring in some health experts in the field to explain and allow residents to know what Dengue is and its actual cause. They would also show usual practices to avoid Dengue in their place.
Meanwhile, Lion Rock Park was temporarily closed down as the government thought that the place has also been the source of the resident's mosquito bites. As a matter of fact, 14 cases came from this place. The government closed the park for 30 days to control the situation.
