Samsung has always been little slower in terms of its updates. While OnePlus 5 had received Android Oreo by the end of December last year. It took 2 more months for Samsung S8 variants to get the same, while the actual phone was revealed by Samsung approximately four months before OnePlus 5. A new update now suggests that Samsung may release Android 9.0 Pie soon on its Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus handsets.

Sammobile hinted that the company may have been testing Android 9.0 Pie on its S9 and S9 smartphones. The insight was developed from the latest instance of Samsung S9 seen on the benchmarking platform: GFXbench. The listing is a bit suspicious as it dubs "Invalid Android Samsung ss Edition." The source even pointed out that the custom skin of the variants of Samsung S9, which were appearing in the benchmarking platform, were labeled in this manner.

The suspicion remains over the word "invalid" as it may mean that Samsung Galaxy S9 may not see the full version of Android 9.0 Pie in an instant. But, potential sources like First Post stated that Samsung will follow its traditional technique of internal testing over its newest handsets with the latest Android operating systems. This was also evident in the case of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, which saw the beta version of Android 8.0 Oreo firstly. The full version of Android's previous OS was rolled out later over all the variants of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

BGR also quoted that Samsung is still rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo on many of its Galaxy devices. The company just rolled out Android 8.1 Oreo update on its  Galaxy J5 handsets in Poland and this was Samsung's first ever smartphone to get this OS software update. Hopefully, Samsung's other 2017 and beyond released devices may also receive Android 8.1 Oreo update soon.

Some reliable sources even stated that Samsung may also follow its last year's trend in terms of releasing Android 9.0 Pie update. This means that Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will get the beta edition Android 9.0 at the similar time at which Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus got Android 8.0 beta update last year and in the same manner, Samsung will roll out the full version of Android 9.0 Pie for Galaxy S9 variants, at the same timeline of yesteryear when it rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy S8 smartphones. The speculations can only be clarified after Samsung's final word on this.
