In a stunning turn of events, a new "Kingdom Hearts 3" video has emerged to show a boss battle that will elicit many shocking responses -- a fight between Sora and Aqua.
During the Tokyo Game Show 2018, Square Enix shared footage showing a fight between protagonist Sora and "Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep" heroine Aqua, ComicBook reported. As seen in the video, Aqua succumbed to the darkness which, literally, engulfed her after years of struggle in the Darkworld.
Aqua's appearance, some YouTubers noted, has been affected by the darkness. She looks like some kind of black substance has corroded parts of her body and clothing, and her eyes are yellow, indicating that she could be in the process of being a heartless, and not necessarily a Xehanort clone.
Nevertheless, she has succumbed to the darkness, and Sora must rescue her. She is able to shoot projectiles towards Sora, and is able to teleport from one location to another. It seems like this will be a challenging fight.
Some think that Aqua's rescue is going to be like how Kairi rescued Sora in an earlier installment. How Sora rescues Aqua, however, is still unknown as of the moment. Though the video seems to give some hope of her rescue, players will have to wait for the game and actually play it to know how it turns out.
As for Sora, the video showed him holding the Nano Arms keyblade he acquired from the "Big Hero 6" world. Many are speculating that because of this, the fight with Aqua might be later in the game. Square Enix, however, didn't say at what part of the game will the BH6 world actually be, so as mentioned earlier fans will just have to wait for the game to be released.
Other Kingdom Hearts 3 details
Aside from the video, some game details were also revealed during TGS 2018. Here are some of them, according to Gamestalk (via Siliconera):
KH3 will mark the end of the Xehanort saga, but according to game director Tetsuya Nomura, this won't be the last "Kingdom Hearts" title as he still plans to continue Sora's story.
KH3 will have more than 20 mini-games, which will extend the number of gameplay hours by a substantial amount. As for an online component, the development team said they will look into that once the main game is released.
The dev team also revealed that KH3 will have a "secret movie" that will be incorporated in the game. This might come later in the form of a DLC.
