PUBG mobile has already sent landmark in mobile gaming with its tournament modes. The game's previous streamer-filled Player Well Known tournament concluded just over a month. The game's publisher Tencent announced another global competition to extend its reach of worldwide live streaming. Dubbed as the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge, the tournament is about to begin today.
According to Android Authority, the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge has been set for the players of si regions, namely Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Korea/Japan, and China. Tencent has set an overall Prize Pool of USD 600,000. The first prize will reportedly be of USD 200,000.
The publisher is utilizing its internal funding for this competition, as per potential sources. Moreover, Tencent has signed up an agreement with Samsung to promote the tournament over Galaxy Note 9. The PUBG Mobile Star Challenge is now available at Samsung Galaxy Apps store.
Express noted that Tencent regarded PUBG Mobile Star Challenge as a huge opportunity for the players to showcase their gaming talent. It stated in a message: "The 'PUBG MOBILE STAR CHALLENGE' with title sponsorship of Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is bringing celebrities, professional gamers, and internet personalities together for the first-ever championship series."
While specifying the terms and conditions to participate in this tournament, Tencent quoted: "To participate, a player must have more than 1,000 fans or followers across specified streaming platforms but can form a squad of up to three other players with no requirements."
"Participants registration already ended on Sept. 10 and we received more than 15,000 teams applied for qualification to PMSC," the publisher further added. Tencent further noted that the top 20 teams from each region will be placed in quarterfinals.
13 semifinalist teams will get the opportunity to participate in the global finals of the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge (PMSC) in Dubai, 7 other teams will also get a sort of wildcard entry to perform in the global finals, as per reliable sources. However, there will be regional tournaments in this segment as well.
The first final for the regional tournament under PMSC will be held in Kiev, Ukraine on September 29 & 30 in this year. The semifinalist teams will be decided from the finalists of the Regional Tournament segment. The global finals in Dubai will take place at the end of the year. Besides all these, Tencent has also set up a pricing segment for the original content creators as well.
