Ever since its official release, Apple's iPhone XS  has been one of the top players of the smartphone industry. Numerous speculations and anticipations have been made in various portals on the web in terms of its major features.

Among these, one of the most talked attributes is the front-facing camera's skin smoothening effect, which was popularly dubbed as 'Beautygate', following the similar trend witnessed over Samsung's latest handsets. Apple, however, has now regarded the effect as a bug and also stated that it will be fixed with the latest update.

According to ARSTechnica, the pictures taken with the selfie camera of iPhone XS showcased some revolutionary type of unrealistic images. The pictures captured by the front snapper were showing up glossy looking smooth face, much similar to the effects seen over animated beings.

The selfie snaps taken by the camera portrayed the faces of the users with no spots on the skin when in reality spots exist on the outer surface of their face. In the first instance, one may get confused with the glossy effect as some kind of filter used in the picture. But it the unrealistic smoothened image appears in normal mode only.

In a press briefing made to The Verge, Apple authorities stated the glossy mode o selfies as a bug. As per the report, the glossy selfies were the result of Smart HDR feature which has been one of the exclusive attributes of the new range of iPhones. The briefing explained that the Smart HDR is choosing the wrong base for the HDR processing.

The snapper can shoot a buffer with four frames in for each and every photo clicked with this lens. Additionally, it uses "interframes" for capturing pictures at different exposures. The attribute is intended to reduce the shutter lag. But according to the analysts, this feature is responsible for the framing of the wrong base of the HDR processing.

Apple authorities have clarified that the glossy snap capturing bug will be fixed as soon as the next software update arrives in iPhone XS. The next update, namely iOS 12.1 is still awaited to be launched in Apple's latest iPhones. It is currently in the public beta stages, as per the latest reports. Reliable sources have stated that the public beta is not showing up any modifications on the selfie camera for now but more detailing in selfie capturing will be seen as soon as the full version of the update goes live on the iPhones.
