Volkswagen seems to tighten up its bonds with Apple. The company is now bringing up Siri support to its electric cars. Siri will be able to control the majority of the cars' panel based tasks with VW Car-Net App. Volkswagen vehicle users will now be able to perform numerous in-car activities with the help of Siri. But the service is not absolutely free. A user will require to subscribe to the app to get all the benefits.
According to The Verge, the users of Volkswagen cars will be able to "lock and unlock their car, check estimate mileage with the fuel or charge left in their vehicle," and even enable or disable alarms. The users of electric vehicles of the company will be able to switch on or off the charging session, or, to turn on the defroster as per their requirement. Car analysts and specialists have already started to mark this feature as impressive and revolutionary. With Volkswagen's latest reform, they also expected to see such updates for other car manufacturing giants as well.
As per a report by Engadget, VW users will not get this whole bunch of advantages free of cost. They will require to bear a monthly subscription to activate the feature of VW Car-Net app. Apple managed to insert Siri support in-vehicle panels through its latest software. The tech giant launched the in-car Siri shortcuts with iOS 12 only. The users of iOS 12 will be able to enable Apple's AI assistant based VW Car-Net app. It should be noted in this context that Google is also marching on in terms of developing its very own in-car based AI support through Android support. The company reportedly went to make ties with car manufacturing majors to implement its Android enabled car app support.
Potential sources have even suggested that Google has already made a several trial run of its Android enabled car apps recently. The results of the same were immensely fruitful as per the insights of many of the insiders. It should be also noted that this trend is not purely new for VW. The company has already enabled Amazon Alexa in its cars, before, and it has also set monthly charges for Alexa support through Car-Net App. It will definitely be exciting to see whether Apple's Siri be able to surpass Amazon Alexa in terms of in-car support based on VW's app or not.
