OnePlus has already clinched a lot of Fan following with the official unveiling of its long-awaited 6T handset. With that, the company also promised earlier to freshen its old racks up with new software updates. The handset maker seems to focus on its earlier promise. OnePlus has started rolling out the beta program for Android 9 Pie on OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones.

According to GSMArena, some of the users of OnePlus 5 and 5T have reportedly started gaining access to the Android Pie beta program on their handsets. Especially, the users of both the handsets in China have started receiving the update based on a beta testing software of Hydrogen OS 9.0. The users of all other parts in South-east Asia are expected to get the same update by some time soon.

The changelog of Android 9 Pie Beta is said to offer a brand new and revamped UI  experience. Also, the users of OnePlus 5T are rumored to receive the Android Pie touchscreen gestures. OnePlus 5 may not get the full advantage of this feature as it includes physical hardware keypad under the screen.

As per another report by 9to5Google, OnePlus was earlier rumored to reveal the updates of Android 9 Pie for its earlier handsets such as OnePlus 5 & 5T and also 3 & 3T, by the first phase of next year. But it now seems that the company is determined to roll out Android Pie one OnePlus 5 and 5T even before the beginning of 2019.

Android Pie beta program, for now, has imposed several performance-based improvements to the 5th generation OnePlus branded smartphones. Notably, the background handling and utility of the apps have been revamped, the processing speed has reportedly been increased to ensure a flawless and smooth experience.

Apart from these, the Caller ID of OnePlus 5 & 5T handsets has been improved to ensure accessibility of the default sim for the users when they are trying to dial a number with the alternative connection. Android Pie beta program is only available for now with Hydrogen OS, which is limited to China. For all other parts of the world, OnePlus allows Oxygen OS based Android support to its smartphones.

Therefore, the users of OnePlus 5 & 5T from all other regions except China may expect a bit of delay in terms of seeing the Android Pie beta. However, OnePlus doesn't convey much injustice to its users. For example, OnePlus 6 saw the beta on September 3 and the final update was rolled out on September 18. So, it's expected that the company will follow the same tradition for OnePlus 5 and 5T as well.
