The last quarter of 2018 has some exciting news for both veteran and new fans of "Pokemon Go." Aside from introducing a new member of the legendary pokemon cast to Niantic's pokemon augmented reality game, a certain number of December events will give "Pokemon Go" players an opportunity they don't want to miss out on again.

According to Polygon, Niantic will be rolling out the latest legendary pokemon that "Pokemon Go" players can rave about sometime in December. "Pokemon Go" fans will now have the chance to capture Cresselia, a psychic type pokemon that made its debut during the "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pokemon Pearl" generation of games.

But Cresselia's availability for capture will be limited during this time period. Polygon emphasized that while Cresselia is already available to be fought in raids as of this week, "Pokemon Go" fans will only have up until Dec. 18 to do the raids to acquire the new legendary pokemon.

Fans may remember that Cresselia is the legendary counterpart to Darkrai, a dark type pokemon wholly unique to the Sinnoh region. While Cresselia is now available for capture in the upcoming raids, Niantic has yet to provide an event for "Pokemon Go" players that would focus on Darkrai. But a second opportunity opens up for "Pokemon Go" fans who may not have been as active during the game's earlier days.

The current season brings more than just the chance to capture Cresselia with it. It seems that to celebrate the coming end of the year, "Pokemon Go's" last community event for 2018 will give "Pokemon Go" players a chance to capture all the pokemon who have been featured in past community days.

"Pokemon Go" players will get an increased spawn rate for Pokemon such as Pikachu, Squirtle, Eevee, Chikorita, and Cyndaquil for a whole weekend starting from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3. According to Polygon, community day pokemon will also include special moves unique to their community day status.

In addition to the chance to capture special community day pokemon, "Pokemon Go" players will also be treated by Niantic to double XP and stardust rates through captures, as well as an increased rate of incubator effectiveness. Polygon does note that there is no information if research activities will return during the time period so "Pokemon Go" fans will have to wait and see if Squirtle with sunglasses will be making a comeback during this time period as well.
