Rockstar recently launched the beta period of "Red Dead Online" that promises to bring all the best part from "Red Dead Redemption 2" and players were too thrilled about it, especially after the commercial success of "GTA Online." Now, players appear to be disappointed with its in-game economy as it's a bit different from "GTAO" when it comes to the costs and payouts.

Kotaku explained that unlike "GTA Online," a lot of missions and activities in "Red Dead Online" pays out only $3 or $5 wherein "GTAO" costs and payouts are between thousands and millions. Apparently, the prices and rewards that players get are way less than what they get from "GTAO."

"Red Dead Online" also includes two currencies - cash and gold. Cash can be earned painlessly, and players receive it as soon as they complete missions, play competitive modes, or when they sell fish or animal pelts, while gold works like a premium currency to purchase cosmetic items, quickly unlock some items, or reset the players' morality meter.

But since this is still the beta period, gold can only be purchased as soon as the developer activates the in-game store although there is still no information about its price or how it's going to be sold. At this time, players can only get gold bars once they earn 100 nuggets by completing missions, playing PvP modes, or find treasures.

Earning gold bars can be a drag, according to Redditor UnavailableIDs, who wrote that it takes players around eight hours to have one, which is one reason why most of them are upset that they have to spend a lot of time just to earn them. Gold bars are used to purchase several in-game items as well as to alter weapons, and some items can be very pricey.

It's not just how the gold bars work that upsets many players, but they are also disappointed that there are not many high-paying missions in "Red Dead Online" especially that there are plenty of in-game items that cost pretty high. Fishing and hunting don't even pay much unless players level up and unlock quality lures and rifles. Selling animal pelts or fish only pay out between $2 and $10.

Thus, players are obviously upset and took their frustrations to "GTA" Forums and Reddit. "We make money like it's 1899 and everything is priced like its 2018," a Reddit user wrote. "Jesus Christ, if I wanted to deal with a shi--- wage/cost-of-living ratio then I'd walk out my f---ing front door."
