Apple promised a more solid security when the iOS 12 went live, which is the major reason why developers and security researchers have been having a challenging time to successfully get a jailbreak for the new software. However, a recent report suggests that there is a huge chance that all files on iPhones or iPads can be hacked in a timely manner.
Forbes reported that there is a 100 percent security threat on iPhones and iPads running iOS 12, and this is according to a famous data recovery company DriveSavers. As per the tech company, the files on these Apple devices can be accessed with "a 100% success rate," and what's more is that these details are being concealed.
As per MacRumors, DriveSavers is reportedly developing a service and charges iOS users up to $3,900 in the instance that they want or need to access Apple devices. However, they reiterated that they are using strict identification protocols from their clients to avoid any hacking activities from an iPad or iPhone that they don't own.
Security has been one of the major selling points of Apple in the market as the tech giant has been promoting its unyielding security such as a CoreTrust framework that they produced to ensure that every signature is Apple-certified. Business wise, DriveSavers didn't disclose this information because obviously, it's business, but it's up to Apple how to deal with this undertaking, especially that every iOS user's security is at stake.
While this may alarm iOS users, some developers and security researchers might find a loophole to build an exploit to jailbreak a stock Apple device. Developers have recommended users to rest at iOS 12.0.1 or lower for now for a possible jailbreak release as Apple has stopped signing it.
Thus, those that have upgraded to iOS 12.1 can no longer downgrade or go back to iOS 12.0.1 and using an exploit to jailbreak the device might be too tricky. Other than that, users that are still waiting for the exploit might just settle for a stock iOS device for now.
Security researchers and developers are already hard at work for a successful jailbreak exploit, and they are positive that there will be a good one to be released soon. Known developer Luca Todesco has previously said there is still hope for an iOS 12 jailbreak after his hacking demos on iOS devices.
At this time, Apple might have to work hard on its devices security.
