It looks like Microsoft is doing its thing to make millions of profit out of its latest Surface series, the Surface Go, which hit the store shelves in August 2018. Apple, on the other hand, also did the same with its iPad Pro ad, and the story goes on with these two rival tech giants.
In an ad, Microsoft throws a subtle punch at Apple's iPad when a ten-year-old girl tried to convince her grandmother not to get her an iPad because she needs a real computer. "Grandma, don't go out and buy an iPad," the little girl chanted. "It was fine when I was six, but now I'm 10. My dreams are big so I need a real computer to do all of the amazing things I know I can."
As per BGR, the girl in the commercial didn't say much about the Microsoft Surface Go as to why it's better than Apple's iPad other than chanting that she has a big dream and the Surface Go is all she wanted. The ad though mentioned that she wants to learn some coding - something that can also be done on an iPad although it still depends on the user if he or she would want to use Microsoft or Apple's devices.
Alternatively, Apple's iPad Pro commercial was also speculated to have thrown a dig at Microsoft, when a neighbor of the girl in the ad asked her what she was doing on her computer, and innocently replied, "What's a computer?" The ad clearly shows that the iPad Pro exists in post-computer days that kids nowadays no longer know what a computer is.
The ad though earned negative responses from people, saying that it rubbed them the wrong way. "Does this commercial tick anybody else off?" someone wrote in a top comment on a snippet of the commercial posted to Facebook. "I want to smack this kid. What's a computer? You know what a computer is you disrespectful smarta--!!"
Other people relatively hated the commercial and took their disappointments to Twitter. For them, despite the coming of digital days, people still get their work done on a computer, and yes, they still exist.
Nonetheless, Apple still continued to develop more advanced iPad Pro and its third-gen was launched in early November 2018 with new edge-to-edge Liquid Retina displays, Face ID, improved 12MP cameras, USB-C connectors, and Apple A12X Bionic processors. Microsoft, on the other hand, also continues to soar high in the digital world with its Surface Go tablet computer.
