PewDiePie is once again in the crosshairs of various publications after his latest controversy. Shortly thereafter, Ubisoft also earned the spotlight, as various sources claim that it took a heavy-handed approach with one of its developers working on "The Division 2." However, a recent report confirms that employee is still connected with the company.
Over the past few weeks, the YouTube star made the headlines with his antics that continue to irk some groups. The latest one apparently resulted from one of his latest videos. According to Game Rant, the Swedish online personality instructed his viewers to visit a certain channel. Unfortunately, some subscribers discovered that the channel hosted some anti-Semitic content. This obviously offended a lot of people who immediately called for his removal from the video-sharing website.
Dianna Lora, on the other hand, took to Twitter and criticized PewDiePie. According to reports, she pleaded everyone to stop their support for the online celebrity. Instead, fans of Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, which is the YouTuber's real name, immediately took action against the developer. It was revealed that Lora is currently working on "The Division 2" under Massive Entertainment-a Swedish game studio currently owned by Ubisoft.
The aftermath of her comments sparked outrage from loyal fans of Kjellberg. These groups encouraged gamers to shun the upcoming co-op shooter. Furthermore, it looks like the same people likewise want to withdraw support for all titles published by the French company. Sources who followed the story closely noticed that Lora's Twitter bio was immediately edited to exclude any mention of the game and the publisher, according to Game Breaking News.
This led the public to postulate that she was fired by her employer. Additionally, a company insider allegedly confirmed that her employment was terminated. Nevertheless, a public statement issued by Dianna Lora clarified her current status. It appears that the developer is still connected with the game studio as well as the ongoing project.
"I'm shipping a game right now, and it'll be the holidays soon, so I'll be taking a break from social media to refocus on my work, my family and my cat," Lora tweeted. Despite all of the controversy regarding PewDiePie and how the Ubisoft got tangled into this mess, it seems like "The Division 2" is on track to launch in March 2019. Fans of the title are hopeful that the game studio will address some of the problems that affected the original. The developers are currently hosting a closed technical alpha.
