A fan pointed out the biggest problem the heroes have to face in Avengers: Endgame and it is not about The Decimation. They have a more pressing matter to prepare for, and that is the arrival of Death.

While fans continue to pour over possibilities on how to rescue Tony Stark in space and bring back the dead, another theory brings attention to another scenario that could happen. According to Reddit user "Reinheart123," the heroes have yet to face a greater threat than Thanos. Death is the biggest and real threat at the heart of the story.

The Decimation is only the beginning and a sign of the arrival of Death. Now, this theory supports Thanos' comic book storyline. The Mad Titan lives to please Lady Death, and he would do just about anything to win her affection. He would kill to woo her.

Moreover, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had hinted at the appearance of Lady Death in Thor: Ragnarok. When Hela (Cate Blanchett) introduced herself as the goddess of Death, viewers believed her to be the imaginary object of Thanos' affection. She turned out to be Thor's half-sister instead, acting in behalf of her mother, the Lady Death herself.

Hela's death in Thor: Ragnarok could have dire consequences for the heroes in Avengers: Endgame. It could bring Lady Death to Earth and bring more damage. She could be the true villain in the story and not Thanos.

Moreover, Thanos is done creating chaos to please Lady Death as hinted in the Avengers: Endgame trailer. He had put up his armor for good as a foreboding scarecrow and retired to a quiet life as a farmer, which according to Looper, is reminiscent of the character's story in the sixth issue of the Infinity Gauntlet comic book series. It is also in this story that the heroes came upon the scarecrow in their search for Thanos to ask him for help.

The only thing that makes this theory of Lady Death appearing in Avengers: Endgame a stretch is the fact that the MCU has deviated so much from the comic books already. When Thanos wiped half of the human population, it was for his desire and not as a favor to Mistress Death. There was no romantic motive involved in his decision to kill humans but only his selfish greed.

It is interesting to think though that Lady Death could appear in Avengers: Endgame. However, if she is the major villain in the story is something fans will have to wait and find out when the film hits theaters on April 26, 2019.
