The Last of Us Part 2 is, undeniably, one of the most anticipated games this year. Avid fans of the franchise have been waiting for its official release. However, it took them years before they finally got an answer on when exactly the game will arrive.

No concrete information about the imminent The Last of Us Part 2 have been made public up to this writing. The good thing is, IGN editor Alanah Pearce, finally, got a hint about the upcoming title's official release date.

Pearce claimed that, as what she has heard from some insiders within the industry, The Last of Us Part 2 would arrive within this year. She shared the exciting information on Twitter and was picked up by several media outlets.

The game journalist went on to say that there is still a possibility that the release of The Last of Us Part 2 will be moved to another date since anything can happen during its development. While Pearce's claims could be true, it is important to note that Naughty Dog has not yet confirmed the game's launch up to this writing.

Hence, fans should take this information lightly until everything is verified. One thing is for sure though: the good guys in Naughty Dog are working very hard to give the best to all fans who have been patiently waiting for Last of Us Part 2.

Meanwhile, other reports claim that Last of Us Part 2 game's multiplayer component will allow players to customize their characters based on their preferences. It was even claimed that there could be an in-game store where gamers can buy more customizations until they can fulfill their imaginations.

These speculations were based on a job ad posted on the official website of Naughty Dog, which is also the developer of other popular games such as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Crash Team Racing, Rings of Power, Way of the Warrior, Keef the Thief and Dream Zone to mention some. The company is, currently, looking for a Multiplayer Server Programmer, who is said to help in the completion of alleged The Last of Us Part 2 game's character customization feature.

"We are looking for a server programmer who loves constructing a scalable, stable, and secure ecosystem of services for players to enjoy," the job ad read. "You will usher them through the entire multiplayer experience, from first login, through matchmaking, and then granting rewards players can use to customize their characters in the store. As one of the caretakers of the live environment, you will be a critical part of the team that launches the game's services."

The Last of Us Part 2 will be launched for PlayStation 4 exclusively. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates about the upcoming game.
