Chinese tech company Xiaomi will launch high-end Redmi: Redmi Note 7 Pro
Previously, Xiaomi announced it will launch Redmi series of smartphones to a sub-brand status and the first phone under the "Redmi by Xiaomi" this year- the series was the Redmi Note 7, according to TechRadar. Its founder Lei Jun, had mentioned that Redmi as a sub-brand will focus on mid-range smartphones. However, the tech company will still create more premium phones under their Mi lineup.
In a recent report, Redmi will launch a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 powered smartphones this year. Apparently, the company is serious about as Redmi GM Lu Weibing posted a picture on Weibo of him together with the Redmi crew, which shows they are discussing the plans of Redmi as a sub-brand going forward. The said two upcoming smartphones mentioned in Weibing's post were the Redmi Note 7 Pro and a flagship smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.
Unfortunately, apart from this news, there are no other details about the features or specifications of this upcoming flagship by Xiaomi. What we only know is it will arrive with Snapdragon 855.
Meanwhile, one of the competitors of Redmi is the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ4, which is set to introduce at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) press conference, which is set for Monday, Feb. 25, at 7.30am GMT. There are leaks have been circulating online that these latest smartphones of Sony are said to be have reduced its bezels. Express UK reported the new model will arrive with a 21:9 aspect ratio, thus making its panel to be much taller than its competitors. Apart from that, the latest leaks claimed that the latest Sony Xperia XZ4 will arrive with a triple camera set up at the back. The new camera setup is said to consist of a 52-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, a 16-megapixel telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture and a 0.3-megapixel ToF sensor with an f/1.4 aperture, NDTV reported.
The leaks also said that Xperia XZ4 will come with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. and packs in a big 4,400mAh battery with support for Qnovo Adaptive charging USB PD, and Qi wireless charging. The available colors of XZ4 are new Deep Purple Color, Black, Silver, and Blue color. As of now, no details about the price of this upcoming Sony smartphone.
Another competitor of Redmi is Google Pixel 3. Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 Lite XL have been spotted on Geekbench. In a recent leak, reported by GSM Arena, Pixel 3 Lite XL will come with Snapdragon 710 chipset. On the website, the handset scores lower maybe because of the lower RAM capacity.
