While the streaming platform hasn't made any decision yet, viewers took on Twitter to save the series. The hashtag #RenewODAAT trends worldwide, fans around the world are showing their support to the renewal of One Day At A Time. There are a lot of reasons why the show needs to be saved and renewed; the reviews about it were mostly positive. The show is genuinely funny and isn't similar to other sitcoms.
From the pilot episode, we could already tell that the series is different among others. One Day At A Time follows the story of Penelope (Justina Machado), a newly single Army veteran, as she and her Cuban-American family navigate the ups and downs of life. The show touches what seemed to be important today: culture an inclusion. It shows the real stories of struggles, as well as victories and stories of Latinx community.
In fact, in just three seasons, the Alvarez family has already dealt with racism, homophobia, coming out of the closet, PTSD, depression, addiction, remarriage, citizenship, and almost loss of a parent. The series has shown the beauty from within, either you're Cuban, immigrant, gay, or a recovering addict. It touches everything and indeed giving you a sense of culture and inclusion.
While other family sitcoms tackled these issues through a special episode, they didn't show the heart of the show having a breakdown. But the series never hides the emotion of the matriarch, which is what family is all about. A lot of fans can surely relate to the story, and that's why it is somehow different compared to other shows.
But, as for One Dat At A Time season 4, the final say is still up to Netflix. But since it trended worldwide, fans are hoping it might be renewed at some point.
