Anyone following NCIS: New Orleans Season 5 knows all too well that Dwayne Pride will eventually get back on the field. The upcoming episode 17 will bring Scott Bakula's character closer to his law enforcement family.

If viewers have been confused about Pride's role during the past segments, there is something to look forward to on NCIS: New Orleans Season 5 as the popular agent makes a gradual transition towards a position that better suits him as presented by his prowess during the previous stretches.

In order to put things under perspective, it will probably be a good idea to take a closer glimpse about the past installments of the current season. Necar Zadegan's Special Agent Hannah Khoury remains in the frontlines only this time within striking distance of real and immediate danger.

Khoury has taken the lead in behalf of the still-sidelined Pride. Even with bravado in full display, she just can't get out of harm's way. Together with her family, she's in protective custody as a nemesis has been out to eliminate her at all costs.

With perilous times taking a stride, perhaps it's about time for Pride to come out of the shadows and resume what he does best. Episode 17 has called for a realignment of duties. That allows Bakula's role to leave his post in the Southeast.

This development also brings Pride back in the fold of New Orleans. NCIS will not roll out the red carpet but everyone in the unit knows that they're just relieved to regain a top agent's remarkable expertise and mastery in the crime-filled world.

Lucas Black's Christopher LaSalle, Rob Kerkovich's Sebastian Lund and C.C.H. Pounder's Dr. Loretta Wade are all better off working with Bakula. There is a harmonious interaction and a high level of understanding within the group with Pride around. It's been a while since the crew stayed together but there is no doubt that the team will be back to their effective ways in no time.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 5 will likely bring episode 17 as a progressive shift for Bakula to be on his old self. The transition will also be a revelation if he and Khoury can efficiently lead the crew together. Zadegan's part is also undergoing a passage of her own.

Her past is gradually being revealed. It is catching up with her. Memories of her partner Liam and their mission in Oman crop up. There may be something essential there to unearth. NCIS: New Orleans Season 5 has kept its storylines busy as the team is out to secure Khoury's family while looking out for Zadegan's exploits.
