Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will get back together one more time in Bad Boys 3. The first movie was initially released back in 1995 and then followed by the blockbuster sequel Bad Boys 2 in 2003, notching up $622.1 million worldwide. Since the action-packed buddy-cop movie has a huge fan base, many requested for another sequel.
Although the third movie has been already confirmed, there were only a few details about it. Back in 2017, Lawrence said Bad Boys 3 would be called Bad Boys For Life. The long-awaited sequel was originally planned for a February 17, 2017 release under Sony.
Then, the revised release date was later on revealed, it supposedly hit the big screen on November 9, 2018. Now, Sony confirmed the new release date of Bad Boys 3 would be on January 17, 2020, and it will be directed by Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, as reported by Otakukart.
As for who's coming back on the film, it has been known Lawrence was open in doing Bad Boys For Life even though it was still up in the air due to Smith's busy schedule. But, the latter has always been happy returning to the franchise as well.
Variety reported in October 2018 that Smith signed on to reprise his role in Bad Boys 3 as Detective Mike Lowrey. Later that same month, Lawrence confirmed he's officially on board the sequel as Detective Marcus Burnett. Additionally, it was reported Joe Pantoliano would return as their jumpy chief.
Meanwhile, Jacob Scipio will reportedly play the villain in the movie, and Mexican actress Paola Nuñez will be the head of Miami PD's elite AMMO unit and Lowrey's former girlfriend. It was also revealed DJ Khaled, High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens, Riverdale's Charles Melton, and Vikings star Alexander Ludwig are some of the new faces in the movie.
It was speculated that Hudgens, Melton, and Ludwig would play a modern, highly specialized police unit and they'll collide with the old Bad Boys when a new danger threatens Miami.
Smith previously shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the table read for Bad Boys 3, including shots of him and Lawrence reading the script. The actor promised no spoilers on the clip, and in fact, he edited out any possible spoilers by pixelating faces of everyone and most of the words. The video only hinted that the characters of Marcus and Mike would likely run down the hall, and it can be heard Smith mentioned "Batmobile."
