Peaky Blinders Season 5 is about to hit the small screen in no time as the Shelby family will once again prove its position and power. Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) won as Birmingham South constituency's new elected MP in the previous season, but his mental health is worsening. Could it be the start of his fall?

The gangster family reclaimed more power when Tommy won as Birmingham South's MP. Politics would also be the Shelbys' new affair after Arthur (Paul Anderson) had a parliamentary connection. But before Tommy aims to run as Prime Minister, Anderson revealed he would only be using his power in Peaky Blinders Season 5 to "further manipulate" their place.

"Tommy is in a position of power, and he can only get stronger in that position," Anderson told Metro as quoted by Digital Spy. "We'll all have more cover, more opportunity and more protection."

Now that Tommy is an MP, he can expand his empire in Peaky Blinders Season 5. He is also now holding more power in a lot of areas, which can extend his influence.

However, aside from his power and influence, Peaky Blinders Season 5 will explore Tommy's worsening mental health. To recall, the patriarch had to come out from his "three-month break deal" to deal with his issues. Does Tommy feel his conscience or he is having post-traumatic stress because of the things he saw in the First World War?

In addition to Tommy's new position and mental health, creator Steven Knight likes to explore the rise of fascism in the 1930s' pre-war era in Peaky Blinders Season 5. In an interview, he said there would be a lot of happenings as they go into that time from "depression to the rise of fascism" that would be part of the next season's storyline.

Meanwhile, there will be new and familiar faces fans will see in Peaky Blinders Season 5, per NME. As the production already started in September 2018, images from the set are now circulating online, including the first look to Helen McCrory's new character as Polly.

Also, Natasha O'Keefe also returns as Lizzie in Peaky Blinders Season 5, along with Harry Kirton as Tommy's younger brother Finn. From the looks of it, the youngest Shelby will handle the family business as his older sibling becomes busy with politics.

BBC has yet to announce Peaky Blinders Season 5's release date, but it is confirmed to hit the small screen this year. There are even rumors it will be out this summer.
