Someone is set to be back on Grey's Anatomy Season 15, and fans will surely celebrate. Abigail Spencer will return to reprise her role as Dr. Owen Hunt's (Kevin McKidd) younger sister, Meghan Hunt.
Spencer broke the news of her return on Grey's Anatomy Season 15 on Instagram on Tuesday, March 5. "Red hair. Super care. Megan Hunt is baaaaack!" the 37-year-old star captioned her snap, wearing her iconic red tresses.
An ABC rep even confirmed the news that Spencer would make an appearance in a spring episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 15. However, according to TVLine, in the true medical drama fashion, plot details about Meghan's comeback have been kept under wraps.

But to confirm the questions if Nathan (Martin Henderson) will return to Grey's Anatomy Season 15 to join Meghan in Seattle, the answer is no. Spencer is the only one who will make a comeback after she got the role from its previous actress Bridget Regan in Season 14. In her final episode in October 2017, fans saw her relocating with her fiancé and her son Farouk to Los Angeles.
She was starting her life in California where they got a beach house. But prior to this event, she was held captive in the Middle East, where everyone thought she was dead. As everything could happen in the ABC drama, she returned and joined her family.
Spencer herself didn't give any details about her return on Grey's Anatomy Season 15. But according to The Cheat Sheet, with the series' latest events, she might spend some time with her brother or pay Gray-Sloan Memorial Hospital a visit for old time's sake.
Talking about sisters, Grey's Anatomy Season 15 recently brought Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) fourth sister for the first time. Amy Acker joined the cast to play the role o Kathleen 'Kate' Shepherd in a very special episode, focusing on Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone).
Digital Spy reported that Acker's casting was only a "one-off," thus she would only be seen in one episode. ABC ordered for an additional three episodes for Grey's Anatomy Season 15, making it a total of 25 episodes, to make an Amelia-centric story.
"I had an extra standalone episode idea that I wanted to do this season," showrunner Krista Vernoff said. However, it wouldn't make Grey's Anatomy Season 15 "lengthen" too much. "It allows us to tell [this Amelia-centric] story that we might not otherwise have gotten to tell this season," she added.
Fans still have to wait for more announcements and additional details about Spencer's return on Grey's Anatomy Season 15. ABC has yet to reveal which episode she will be seen and when it will air.
