However, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the only installment in the franchise that will make its way to the popular online streaming giant. Released in May 2017, the film follows Captain Jack Sparrow's one-of-a-kind journey as he searches for the legendary Trident of Poseidon. This after a deadly ghost sailors, led by his old nemesis Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), kill all the pirates at sea after escaping from the Devil's Triangle.
Throughout his journey, Captain Jack Sparrow is accompanied by his loyal friend, Joshamee Gibbs (Kevin McNally); a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario); crew members Scrum (Stephen Graham) and Marty (Martin Klebba).

However, the film wasn't well-received by the public. Some even noted that the entire film was practically incoherent due to the plot and overabundance of characters. Despite its poor reception, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales managed to do well in numbers - grossing $794 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $230-320 million.
The film's post-credits scene also paved the way for a sixth installment, which is still in development. While nothing is set in stone yet, speculations are rife that writers Jeff Nathanson and Terry Rossio are currently working on the script along with the latter's longtime writing partner Ted Elliott. Director Joachim Rønning is also being eyed to helm the sequel.
