Emily Deschanel is making a big comeback on television. She snugs a juicy and interesting role on TNT's Animal Kingdom season 4 as her character is going to be the bad news for Smurf (played by Ellen Barkin).
According to The Wrap, Deschanel will play Angela on Animal Kingdom season 4. She's described as a former convict and a recovering addict trying to show her family that she has reformed.
But behind the nice exterior, Angela is a manipulative woman who will try to seduce Pope (played by Shawn Hatosy) on the first chance she gets. Smurf also suspects that Angela is up to no good, while J (played by Finn Cole) makes it clear she has never liked Julie's best friend even before. But does Angela have an agenda? Is she going to have Pope, J, and even Smurf turn against each other?
Deschanel last starred on the long-running procedural drama Bones on FOX as a forensic expert. This is a definite departure for the actress, and her fans are no doubt eager to see her in this new role.
TNT has not yet announced when Animal Kingdom season 4 will start its run. Production for the current season began just last January so the new installment might likely arrive in the late summer or fall.
Meanwhile, Animal Kingdom season 4 has also made a few changes in its cast. According to Deadline the series has made Sohvi Rodriguez a regular part of the cast. The actress recurred in the third season as Mia, a gang member who becomes aligned with J.
In another news, Bleeding Cool, reported that Jon Beavers and Grant Harvey have also joined the cast Of Animal Kingdom season 4 as Jake and Colin respectively. They'll both belong to a crew that attacks unsuspecting victims in the coast of California.
Then there's also Leila George, who will play the role of someone named Janine. She's described as a street-savvy survivor and con artist that's very much like Smurf in her youth. Rumors have it that Animal House season 4 could be taking on the origin story of Smurf and it looks like these new cast additions are part of that expanded storyline.
The show is taking on a different turn after Scott Speedman's (as Baz) exit in the third season. His character was killed off, which was part of the plan for the show. "I'd always talked to Scott [Speedman] about the fact that I didn't think it would be a five- or six-year deal so he was prepared for it when it happened," executive producer John Wells told Entertainment Weekly.
