Previous reports showed that a new Motorola foldable smartphone is in the works, one that features the iconic Razr clamshell phone's form factor. Now, a new report reveals what specs the phone could possibly have.

Citing an unknown source, XDA Developers has confirmed that a Razr-branded smartphone is underway. Internally known as "Voyager," the new phone is said to feature slightly less powerful specs compared to other foldable smartphones revealed recently, such as Samsung's Galaxy Fold and Huawei's Mate X.

According to the source, the new Motorola foldable will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, an eight-core SoC that features two ARM Cortex-A75 cores and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores, with speeds at 2.2GHz and 1.7GHz, respectively. The Snapdragon 710 is joined by an Adreno 616 GPU.

So far, there are only two RAM and storage variants for the Razr smartphone. It's either 4GB or 6GB memory and 64GB or 128GB of storage. The battery is also on the smaller side: only 2,730 mAh.

While the battery size is small compared to other smartphones today, foldable or not, it's important to consider the Razr's slim body. XDA Developers said the other new foldable could easily fit two batteries, one for each half. Nevertheless, they said the battery info might already be outdated.

It's still unknown if the Razr will feature Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ fast charging feature or not. Although the chipset offers support for this feature, it's entirely possible that Motorola will use its 27W TurboPower charging, similar to what was used in the Moto G7 Plus.

The Razr will feature two displays, one for when it's unfolded and the other for when it's folded. Unfolded, the Razr will feature an OLED display measuring 6.20 inches. This display will have 876×2142 resolution.

The external, secondary display, which is used when the phone is folded, will feature 600×800 resolution. Its measurements are still unknown. It is believed that this external display will be used to control the camera, and can be used as a trackpad for Google Chrome.

The external display is also believed to provide limited access to the Google Assistant, Quick Settings tiles, the clock app, media controls, and notifications, among others.

The new Razr, while still officially unnamed, is going to be launched on Verizon. It will come in three colors: White, Black, and Gold. It is believed to fetch a $1,500 selling price.

While some might be turned off at the Razr's high price, it is worth noting that the phone might feature totally different specs once it becomes available. What's more, the camera and other specs are still a mystery at the moment. Motorola just might surprise consumers with their finished product.
