US-based telecom firm Motorola is still flying under the Smartphone radar and continues to shy away from the spotlight centered on powerhouses Samsung, Apple, LG, and Huawei, among others. They have their own audience and their stable wave of devices offer a worthy alternative to consumers who want to have something unique aside from the conventional. Today, a number of sources have found a new Motorola phone, indicating that the company is working on a new flagship.
Motorola is no stranger to rumors. From a rather quizzical foldable phone to their plan to bring back the popular RAZR, the company is on the verge of a productive 2019. These may just be gossips from the get-go, but the industry knows that this can change with a blink of an eye. The same thing can be said about Steve H. McFly's recent Tweet about an "unknown" Motorola device with a quad camera setup.
Also knows as @OnLeaks in the digital world, McFly's post came as a follow-up when he also revealed what seems to be a Motorola P40 Power. This time, he provided a 360-degree view alongside 5K renders, dimensions and specs courtesy of his "new partner", @CashKarocom. At some point, the phone looks good at first glance, but all attention is diverted at the back because simply put, of its four cameras. This alone is a giveaway that it is a Motorola flagship.
Android Authority, who also reported on @OnLeaks' assumption, is ruling out the fact that the device doesn't look like a Motorola Z-Series due to its physical form. The quad-camera doesn't also suggest that it's a budget phone and as such, won't be a G-Series. Motorola's X-Series is likewise out of the picture since the company is rumored to discontinue the line. One theory the website is pointing is that the new renders will headline a new Motorola line "we haven't heard about yet."
Aside from the obvious, @CashKarocom divulged that the mysterious Smartphone will feature a 6.2inch display and an in-display fingerprint sensor found on the Motorola Z4. It will also have a water-drop notch like what OnePlus did with the 6T. The renders also suggest that it should come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C charging. Vital stats for the device are approximated at 158.7mmx75mmx8.8mm. Android Authority added that it will have a brushed-aluminum finish that will add a premium feel to the handset.
Although the leaked info was not able to say about the Smartphone's internal configuration and on how Motorola will utilize the camera sensors, Slashgear is looking on a possibility that will be more like the Nokia 9 PureView. Each camera will bring a specific setting that will bring forth a new photography experience to its potential users. They are also considering a 48megapixel shooter and a step above Motorola's triple-camera option in the form of either the Moto G68 or the P40 Note.
