The Big Bang Theory season 12 is nearing its finale, and this would be the last installment for the longest-running CBS sitcom. But although the show is coming to its end, there were already talks about possible spin-offs. However, Kunal Nayyar's character Raj might not be getting a spin-off as the actor confirmed himself he's ready to move on and do different things.

Many fans love to see Raj getting a spin-off, especially when considered where the character started. Reports say he is the least fully-formed character of the original gang, so there were more stories needed to unfold about his life. But the thing is Nayyar isn't likely interested in doing The Big Bang Theory spin-off that centers on Raj.

During Deadline's The Contenders Emmys held on Sunday, the actor said he is ready to do other things rather than continuing his particular role on The Big Bang Theory. He said that he likes playing Raj, but things were different now, and he wanted to move on and do other projects.

It is understandable Nayyar isn't interested in continuing playing his character since he wanted to try other things and roles out there, rather than just sticking with Raj. CarterMatt also noted this could also benefit the actor as he doesn't look like much his character in real life.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed the longest-running CBS show would not end with an "atomic bomb." According to series director Mark Cedrowski, the finale episode of The Big Band Theory season 12 was not yet written, but he said the show would end in a way where fans already know where the characters are going - meaning there is no atomic bomb on the ending.

Cedrowski noted he does not know much about the ending, but it's not going to be the end for the characters, and their lives will continue to go on. So, fans shouldn't worry as he's likely teasing about a proper The Big Bang Theory spin-off, especially there's a lot of time for that stuff now, and some characters have more stories to tell.

Also, the series already has one spin-off - Young Sheldon - and CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said in February the network is open to doing more spin-off series as long as The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre is interested as well.

The Big Bang Theory season 12 airs Thursdays on the CBS, and its final episode is reportedly set this coming May 16.
