Slider phones were an instant hit in the 90's when Finnish brand Nokia made a handful of these gadgets. For the most part, it offered a premium feel to its owners, while at the same time gave them a revolutionary device that could fit in their pocket. Now, Samsung is bringing back the slider with the A80, but it will bring a new flavor in the midrange field.
There's no point in arguing that Samsung is among the trailblazers in the Smartphone industry. With constant innovation, the South Korean outfit can reach a wider audience with a slew of options that are equipped with the latest technology. Be that as it may, it gives Samsung an upper hand, as well as a head start to begin the next fad in the industry.
Samsung's official website describes the A80 as their offer to users who engage themselves in the "Era to Live." These are individuals that use their Smartphones on almost everything, and those that look for a more "genuine and meaningful connection." Hence, Samsung gave the Galaxy A80 with a groundbreaking rotating camera, full-screen display and intelligent battery.
Business Insider mentioned that the Galaxy A80 is the first phone to sport Samsung's "Infinity-O" display that maximizes the screen size of a device without compromising the front facing camera. While a notchless phone sounds beautiful, it's not the main entrée of the Samsung A80. Instead, it's the triple rear camera setup that rotates to act as the Smartphone's selfie shooter.
The cameras, it added, will pop up and rotate to the front when the user activates the Galaxy A80's selfie mode. The Verge meanwhile said that the setup will be made up of a 48megapixel shooter, an 8megapixel ultra wide sensor and Time-of-Flight snapper. Alongside this is a 6.7inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display screen with a 20:9 aspect ratio; 8GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage and a 3,700mAh fast charging battery.
The Samsung Galaxy A80 will also borrow several features found on the Galaxy S10. These include an on-screen fingerprint sensor and the aforementioned ultra-wide angle camera. The phone's screen size will also be larger than the Galaxy S10 and S10+, but it will be par with the 5G variant of the flagship as per Business Insider.
As the newest member of the A Series, the Galaxy A80 will make use of Bixby, Samsung's digital butler. It will also be protected by Knox as the device's security frontline. The Verge has it that the Samsung A80, which was announced last Wednesday, will be launched on May 29. It will come in hues of blue, black, white and coral.
