All people already know how exercise plays a huge part in keeping the body healthy. Unfortunately, most of them are still unable to commit to this kind of routine because of insufficient time and hectic schedule in their work and personal life.
Good thing experts discovered something that everyone who wants to step into a healthy lifestyle but afraid to say yes because of hectic schedule will surely be happy about. A recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine revealed how exercise need not be too long to take effect anymore. Even just by investing 10 minutes a week in exercise can already create an amazing result and extend one's life, as reported by TIME.
Bo Xi, a professor, and epidemiologist at the Shandong University School of Public Health in China and also one of the co-authors of the study shares how beneficial every second is when it comes to exercise. "Any dose of physical activity will be beneficial to human health", he added.
This result was revealed after the data of about 88,000 US adults, aged between 40 and 85, were studied for almost nine years. At the start of the study, everyone who took part in it was healthy and didn't have any chronic disease. Throughout the study, experts behind the team required participants to provide their health and demographic information.
After the course of the study, researchers found out how exercising, even for at least 10 minutes a day, can already lessen the person's risks of having cancer, heart attacks or other diseases that could increase their possibility of dying by 18%. Furthermore, among all their participants, the experts learned that 8,000 of them have died.
Though there are already a lot of studies that have affirmed how even short low-intensity exercises can be beneficial to one's health, the truth about how a weekly 10-minute exercise can already lessen the risk of early death is what still puzzles people the most. The study's result is even contradicting to the federal physical activity guidelines, which recommends people to have at least 150 minutes of aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise per week to stay fit and healthy.
Exercise has always been linked to a lot of benefits. An international health blog entitled Medline Plus enumerated several ways on how it could help the body. These include: helps in managing your weight, reduces the risks of cardiovascular disease, helps in managing blood sugar levels, improves your mood, and keeps your mental state healthy.
